For more than 25 years, Dean Lucas has owned and operated iconic restaurant and bar venues in Melbourne, Victoria. This placed him in the perfect position to appreciate the need for a premium Australian spirit.
In 2006, Dean made the decision to create Australia’s first premium vodka. His search for a natural environment with access to the highest quality raw materials and a pure water source led him to Tasmania and the island’s pristine North West Coast. In this wild but idyllic location Dean discovered both Cape Grim Water and the perfect independent Tasmanian distillery partner. In 2007, he began to craft a new vodka using the finest local ingredients including the world’s purest rainwater.

The Brief
Tasmania, a pristine island that sits below the southern most coast of Australia, north of Antarctica is an environmental wilderness famous for its clean air and natural beauty.
Hidden away in this sanctuary of wild forests, windswept hills and rugged coastline is the aptly named Cape Grim. Scientists have proven the air here is the cleanest in the world. The wind blows Antarctic rains uninhibited to the Cape. This is where we source our water.
It is also where we produce our vodka using the finest Tasmanian ingredients, a slow small batch distillation process and Cape Grim Water. The use of the world’s purest rainwater allows us to capture and share the distinctive essence of Tasmania’s raw terroir.
Handcrafted from start to finish, Cape Grim 666 Vodka (pronounced ‘Triple 6’) has a unique natural character and bold smooth taste.
